Youth Summer Day Camp Program

In the Youth Summer Day Camp Program youth, aged 4 to 16, are divided in five age groups and meet at five participating downtown congregations. Each age group is professionally staffed by Wellspring and four roving instructors on art, dance, music and yoga meet weekly with youth. Field trips are provided weekly.

The kids gather at their specific age group site from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and then all participants meet at Moody Park for lunch through the Fort Wayne Community School’s Free Lunch Program.

The Summer Day Camp had a record-setting year in 2011 with 548 youth participating. In 2012, camp programming will begin on Wednesday, June 13 and will conclude on Thursday, July 26. In 2011, we continued our outreach efforts with the Burmese community involving youth who resided in the Autumn Woods Apartments (Paulding and Anthony).

In October of 2009 Wellspring’s Summer Day Camp Program was named a recipient of a 2009 Indiana Youth Investment Award from the Indiana Youth Institute. Only ten Indiana organizations -- over 200 were considered -- received recognition for exemplary youth programs.

There are no fees for Wellspring’s Summer Day Camp and free transportation is provided for approximately 60% of the kids.
