In 1968, our organization was founded through the efforts of five central city congregations including Emmanuel Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. John’s United Church of Christ, Trinity English Lutheran Church, and Wayne Street Methodist. Those founding congregations, along with many others that have associated with us over the years, comprise sixteen congregations that support us today.
The supporting congregations contribute to Wellspring in several different ways. They provide financial gifts to our organization and programs. They supply many needed and valuable volunteers to assist in various programs offered by Wellspring. Supporting congregations organize food and clothing drives to support the Food Bank and Wellspring Shoppe. Plymouth Congregational, Trinity English Lutheran, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Trinity Episcopal, and St. John’s Lutheran Church donate their facilities to be used for our Summer Day Camp. Trinity Episcopal and St. John’s Lutheran Church donate their facilities to be used for our After School Program. Trinity English Lutheran donates services to our Older Adult Program and Aldersgate United Methodist Church provides a lunch to our Older Adult Program on a yearly basis.
Congregational support has been and continues to be a key element to the progress of our organization and programs.
